ENMU is a multifunctional device that combines an analog signal converter, a digital signal input/output device, a synchronized vector measurement device and an emergency event logger.

ENMU connects to traditional electromagnetic current and voltage transformers, performs analog-to-digital signal conversion and outputs digitized data in the form of sampled values to the Ethernet network using broadcast streams according to IEC 61850-9-2. The streams of sample values from different connections must be synchronized, so each ENMU receives time synchronization signals over an Ethernet network in accordance with IEEE 1588v2 PTP (for example, from the ENKS-2 time correction unit).
